My Black Friday Bargains

Early morning it was snowing bad in Spokane Washington but we managed to to go Valley Mall to get some great value sale. I said I don't want to wait in line in department stores no more and all I really wanted are clothing. After going to Aeropostale then went to American Eagle then head for Hollister. We were really aiming for Hollister because we heard the biggest price slash storewide. I got carried away and bought more than I planned in their store because of the price, so this is a gift for myself. HO HO HO ...few more days 'til Christmas. Read More......

Medicare and Medicaid Budget Cut Concerns

After our meeting today I just had a growing concerns about how our health industry gonna be when the new budget cut will take effect some starting January 2011 and some on March 2011. Mainly affect our elderly and children. Being in health industry as the health provider there will be lots of changes how care will be facilitated. With the previous budget cut it already dropped down lots of benefits and affecting lots of health industry from home health, hospitals and health clinics. In the next 3 years there will be more budget cuts. Big concern! Will health care provider still able to take the cut? If it goes down to the point that care providers cannot afford to do the care, who will be there to take care of the sick citizens? Read More......

Man's Best Friend

mini daschundMy dogs are like extended part of my family. Kiko a PomChi (Pomeranian/chihuahua mix) was given to me by a friend. He is very hyper and we thought he needed a playmate so we decided to go to animal shelter to adopt a pet. We saw Dover (mini-dachshund)who has a sad look and just won our heart when we found him. Now two two pooch are buddies and get along pretty well. Dover as being a slower and relaxed was overweight when we first had him but now nicely fit and healthy because Kiko kept him moving as playmate. These partners gets away with lots of stuffs around the house and I dont know how many bluetooth headset I damaged between the two. But I love them to pieces. Read More......

Early Christmas Present

It's been 5 months since my dad was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer due to smoking cigarettes. It was actually just a day before his 69th birthday. It was one of the most devastating news for the family. We all felt lost and lots of questions unanswered. So, he went through chemotherapy treatment although his brothers and sisters in Philippines disagree and was not happy of the decision mainly because of lack of knowledge and awareness of the advancement in Medical field in U.S. but we still went on and it was all my Dads decision. I saw him suffered the pain and agony of the treatment and it was not easy to not able to help him. All I know is he is trying and he promised he will not give up but it is all up to the Lord. After several medical appointments upon appointments and the last CT scan turned out to be greatest news. Although it may not have cured the lung cancer at his late stage but the treatment put the cancer growth on remission. God is really GreaT! Thank God for my Dad and the chance to be with us. This is also my way to say thank you to my family and friends who helped and prayed for my Dads health. Read More......

Blue Mountain Ski Resort, Ontario, Canada Live Cam

I can't help it but feel excited for my upcoming visit in Toronto once again but this time will be a Winter Getaway and falls at Christmas. Part of my itinerary is to go skiing in Blue Mountain Ski Resort near Collingwood in Ontario, Canada. Because of that, I now started to track the snow (when it fall soon) in Blue Mountain Ski Resort. I checked the homepage of the resort and found Live Cam links ( VIEW THE BLUE MOUNTAIN VILLAGE WEBCAM , VIEW THE BLUE MOUNTAIN SOUTH BASE LODGE WEBCAM ) of the area so now I can also see the snow condition if there is any. So far it is still bare. I hope there will be plenty of snow next month so Chikay will enjoy her first try in the slopes. I will be showing her few tips on how to ski hehehe. Read More......

Online Booking

Today I finally decided to reserve my plane ticket and hotel stay at few places in Toronto area. I wanted to spend my Christmas with Chikay. It will be another weekend getaway for me on December but because it is a peak season, I decided to reserve early. Just finished confirming my reservations and one part was a little hard was finding a not too expensive accommodation to go skiing on Christmas day in Blue Mountain Ski area. Most of my booking was done in because I always get a better price quote on my travel needs. I just wished I rented the car as a package to save extra but due to extra companies for ski trip, I decided to hold on it there might be changes on our transportation needs. Well everything is set for hotel part, now just have to think about transportation. I am excited! See you next month Honey. Miss your XOXO... Read More......

Philippine Labor Attache SCOLDS Distressed OFW in Hong Kong

I just can't help but feel upset after I saw these videos that was shared to me by my girlfriend who used to work in Hong Kong and told me this video is a reality of how Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW) are treated specially in Hong Kong. I just can't imagine how many fellow Filipinos that went through the same abuse and feel left out because the appointed officials that suppose to help and advocate for our OFW failed to do their job. Romulo Salud raised his voice he still there anyways if he is not doing his job? It is sad how our own appointed officials don't do anything to assist Agnes Tenorio and stick up for her right. A lot of our OFW leave the country and left behind a big financial responsibilities so going back to PI is not really of best interest for Agnes Tenorio. How to Perform a Nasal Irrigation

If you have runny nose, flush it out. I wanted to share how to perform nasal irrigation or nasal clease. It may look weird but it is effective and is recommended by doctors. It is a simple saline solution which am gonna share today.
  • Saline (salt water) washes the mucus and irritants from your nose.
  • The sinus passages are moisturized.
  • Studies have shown  that a nasal irrigation improves cell function (the cells that have fine filaments to move the mucus work better.
You will need:

  • 1 quart glass jar that is thoroughly cleansed.
  • Fill with warm water (not hot) not necessarily to boil the water
  • Add 1 - 1½ heaping teaspoons of salt (pickling/kosher/canning salt) do not use table salt because it contains large amount of additives.
  • Add 1 teaspoon baking soda (pure bicarbonate) Mix ingredients together and store at room temperature.
Discard after 1 week if not used .
It is recommended to irrigate your nose once or twice a day. You can use bulb/ear syringe, large medical syringe (30 cc) , water pick with irrigation tip, squeeze bottle or Neti pot. syringe or pick or anything plastic should be sterilized frequently or replaced at least every 2 weeks to avoid contamination and secondary infection. Always pour the amount of fluid you plan to use into a clean bowl . You may warm up the solution but make sure not too hot. Bend over the sink and squirt the solution or let gravity flow if using a irrigation pot aiming the stream towards the back of your head ,NOT the top of your head. It will not harm you if you swallow a little. If you have been told to use nasal medication, you should always use the saline first. The nasal medication is much more effective when sprayed onto clean nasal membranes. Some people may experience a little burning sensation the first few times they use buffered saline solution, but this usually goes away after they adapt to it .

(This was recommended to me by my Physician and instruction given to me. I would like to share this how effective it was for me as I was suffering from viral infection on my nose for months and this is the only thing that worked for me)

Facts about Antibiotics

Parents usually get panic or get helpless when their child get symptoms like colds ,coughs, ear infection and sore throat. Often times they think and expect antibiotic would solve the problem but antibiotics are not always the answer to cure these symptoms. I post this specially to parents that live in the Philippines where antibiotics are dispensed over-the-counter not even needing prescription. As a child that was raised back in the Philippines I have been a victim of miss treatment of a simple ear infection.  Parents be advised that
  • Antibiotics are not used for bacterial infections.
  • When your child  had cough or cold she probably has viral infection.
  • Common viral infection such as coughs, sore throat or colds cannot be cured by taking antibiotics.
  • Use of antibiotics when not needed can harm  your child.
  • Ask Physician if you think that your child might need antibiotic. (DO NOT SELF-MEDICATE)
  • Hand washing is still the single best way to prevent the spread of illness.

How Make the Most Use of Your Mobile Minutes

Integrating my Skype with mobile minutes and enjoy unlimited world calling. Not many users specially people with AT&T service providers that AT&T offers "A-list" on selected plans. Current Individual plans 900+ minutes ($59.99 and over) per month, and Current FamilyTalk plans 1400+ minutes ($89.99 and over) per month. What it does is allowing you to pick 5 numbers (for individual plan) or 10 numbers (family plan) you can frequently call and enjoy the unlimited calling to that number without using your Mobile to Mobile, or Rollover® minutes. If you are currently in the plan mentioned above just update online and add any domestic number, on any network – including landline numbers to your a-list and enjoy unlimited calling. You can also do the same with "pick five friends" and "my faves" of T-mobile. Then I actually added my Skype mobile to go number to "my faves" or "a-list" so I can dial it like using a phone card. So with my Skype World plan, I can call that Skype mobile number and dial any number from the 36 countries included in my Skype subscription. Now that is how I integrate my mobile minutes and Skype subscription to call World (36 countries).

Chudleigh's Apple Picking
Last weekend I (Chikay) went to Chudleigh's Apple Farm to experience apple picking with some friends. Since I am just here in Toronto for about three months, this is really my first experience. My friend invited me to go so I went and I'm really glad I did. It was fun and I even got to go home the delicious Chudleigh's Apple pie on top of the Red Delicious apples I picked.

Importance of GPS Device

I am fond of  practical gadgets and gizmos. Like GPS device , I first used it as an application to a blackberry 5 years ago when I first visited Toronto. I was very impressed how useful it was although it was just an add on to a blackberry , I have to pay for using the apps and the screen was not quite as big as I wanted it. So later on I bought myself a TOMTOM XL, I got the bigger screen and way lot more POI (points of interest) hightlighted. Of course am comparing a 4 years difference in technology. I choose TomTom XL over Garmin for the fact that TomTom actually have Canada map pre-installed and don't have to pay extra for the map. I was not sure if Garmin really allow Canada map to be downloaded for free. My only mistake using GPS is I rely too much on GPS device. It actually redirect my routes when I missed my turn and guided me to find open space parking. I still recommend glancing at the map or at least preview your route before you start driving unless you know a little bit about your current location. I feel so dumb and feels like driving blind-folded not knowing where I actually was although I am very pleased and satisfied with TomTom GPS device and saved my day several times. Read More......

Picasa Bandwith limit

I have been thinking of upgrading my Picasa account not just for more storage size but for bandwidth too because I am expecting to upload more photos but I do not know what is Picasa's bandwith limitations. It shows the storage limits and I have been searching online about this but no one seem to know and Picasa never answered the forums on their help section. It is much better when you pay for something that you know exactly what you are getting just like buying a computer, you wanted to know all the specs before you decide that is best value for your money. Our Hong Kong Adventure

Chikay's Friends in HK
nothing to do while riding the bus
Dining at Victoria Peak

It was last July 2009 when I visited Hong Kong. Chikay did a wonderful job taking me places that interests me. I opt out on going to Disney since I've been to DisneyWorld in Orlando. Meeting her friends was one of the reasons I stopped by in Hong Kong. Like I've known them for awhile because I got to talk to them on phone several times even when they hang out together. It was our plan to have lunch in Outback Steakhouse. I really like the food there. Almost all the places we went to eat tasted great. What about night time in Hong Kong? The Hong Kong city lights show is one of the coolest thing to see in Hong Kong. For travelers who don't wanna miss this , is shown nightly at 8:00 PM. Chikay and I just had Subway's turkey breast sandwich and took a foot long take out hehehe. When her and I are together, we really get along with food.

Our Trip to Niagara Falls,On

Niagara Falls is about an hour and half drive away from Toronto depending on traffic. Earlier this month Me and Chikay went for visit again. I say again because her and I both been to Niagara but we never been there together yet. We planned on leaving early on Sept. 4 , we actually did well and managed to get out of our hotel room 10:30 am. We were gonna stop for breakfast on our way to Niagara but instead I grabbed our left over pizza(believe me I eat cold pizza), chips and drinks and there I was eating while driving. She give me a bite every now and then and that was enough to fill me (til our next stop hehehe).

I better not miss "Factory Outlet" sign. Chikay is so eager to shop in factory outlet as there is none in Toronto. There are 40 brand name stores but we only managed to go about half of that. I got her a Guess earings. Ohhh yeah she loves those but hmmmmm later on found out it was too heavy for her tiny ears lol. We wanted to check COACH store but there were hundreds of people lined up to enter and I don't think we have time to do that. We both hate long wait! But keeps us wondering whats inside the store that looks like everyone is going out with sacks and bags of goodies like COACH is giving their products away. Then we tried some chocolates from Rocky Mountain and got a sort of membership card. Of course Chikay is a chocolate addict so I thought she could benefit if she have that card. Later on after hours shopping, my stomach start to growl! We thought about eating in the mall , but nah..... we came this far and to only eat in mall is not an adventure. So I grabbed this flyer and checked out the restaurants in the area and talked her into dining at the skylon tower. I told her it would be an experience and most beautiful view of the falls while we dine. So I made a reservation. They were willing to give us a seat right away but we are still about 20 min. drive away so we got the early dinner seatting.
From Factory Outlet we drove about a mile to try go karting. I got  a ticket for 9 laps. Chikay had a good time and I love to see her laugh and smile. It was fun driving like kids out in the track ;P  and we had so much of a goodtime that time flies. By then we only have 30 mins. to go to Skylon Tower, look for parking space and walk to the front counter.

Whew! we barely made it on time. We were there just minute before our reservation. I thought we were not gonna make it. But we really  huffin n puffin to  make it in front of the counter lol then a lady calling for our reservation time to  take us up. Yes! I am really excited about this. On our way up, we have to  stop for a pose. I am not much for picture taking so I just did what the photographer asked then  we go to the elevator.
                                Thank to for the picture
Dining at the Skylon's World-Famous Revolving Restaurant was an experience with the best view of Niagara Falls. It was not expensive either and food was great tasting . I tried their coffee and I ended up drinking about 6-7 cups.Skylon actually revolve and will get full rotation in about an hour. View the virtual tour of Skylon tower click here.

We went to the observation deck right after I paid our tab and talk a walk around. Like we haven't had enough view of the sorrounding eh? Of course we went down take a walk in Niagara City Centre 'til it's getting dark. We were not able to wait for the firework show. It's ok, the whole trip was fun and we both really had a great time.

Merging Data and Stats in Alexa

I just recently switched to my own domain, people might not know it, but stats does change or in most cases it does not always match between the old URL and new domain. If you are familiar with Alexa Internet Traffic Stats, you might want to check your domain name and see if your stats did not go back to zero or not matched. In my case, I did this Alexa traffic check and showing traffic has no data, yet my thingsweshare url stayed intact. So the only way to fix that is go visit Alexa and request to merge your stats or data for both links in the forum.

Four Points Sheraton Lake Shore , Toronto

My visit to Toronto last Sept. 3 , we stayed in Four Points Sheraton Lake Shore. It was better than expected because we read a lot of negative things about the hotel and I was getting concerned if we gonna have the same bad experience like other travelers had but to my surprise, it really was not bad at all. The room we had is basic but clean, comfortable and have access to high speed internet. That is the main thing for me, comfort , cleanliness, wi-fi and location. The rest I can put up with. I don't really recommend the food in their restaurant though. It is to pricey and don't taste great. Location is great, for me the Lake Shore Park right in front is nice specially at night, you can take a stroll or just relax and watch the view of down town from a distance.

Remembering The First Time I Met Her

Remembering the days before our 2nd yr. anniversary when I landed in Hong Kong airport…we've finally met.Things been planned way ahead…the hotel, the plane ticket the family and friends ….things went as scheduled… I remembered the first day I saw her, ’twas in the airport. I went through immigration w/o hassle and here I was gonna meet her at last! I knew she was a ‘lil nervous ,the sound of her voice over the phone when I was in Vancouver was totally not like her norm. She just don’t talk like usual, like she is gathering her thoughts and keepin herself busy talking but dont know what she was saying at she ended up repeating herself a lot hehehehe. Ohhh I love her voice, she is cute and sweet….but then just minutes away..I would finally meet that sweet voice up close, that face I’ve seen through cam ..that person I been longing to touch and hug…My heart was pounding harder as I reached closer and closer to the exit door..foot by foot………Here I finally reached the arrival area where passengers get to meet their families or escorts …But whaaaaaa! where is she? OMG! she is late ..or worse yet, she is not gonna show up…whaaaaa! Should I get nervous? hmmmm I stood there for few minutes then askedn one of the airport personel if there is another place for arrival. (just in case maybe she was just lost )..he said yeah! but if she knows what plane I am in, she should be in the right terminal….hmmm again…I really hate waiting, we had conversations about this while I was in Vancouver….I can’t stand waiting whaaaaa!!….Should I get upset now? hehehehe….Then I turned around….WHAAAAAA !!! I was not upset at all, there she was standing behind me watching me all those time with her video cam rolling.that dirty smile she had on her face…hehehehe I could not wait another second…I WANTED TO HUG HER…I could almost cry from happiness. First thing I did was hug her then took a minute to look at her eyes …… I just can’t help but fall in love with her some more. She was still laughing and enjoying the trick she pulled on me…Hmmmm …I said, I haven’t had my kiss yet hehehehe..then that first first kiss right in the middle of arrival section ,in crowded Hong Kong airport ( seems like the clock stops ticking in our own private world) was very memorable. it was so true!!!.Haysssss it feel so good to finally have her near me. I feel so at home with her right away…the whole time we walked holding hands, sharing jokes, touching her face hehehe… Instant ‘CLICK’ personality… We never felt a bit shy at all… hays sarap.
