Philippine Labor Attache SCOLDS Distressed OFW in Hong Kong

I just can't help but feel upset after I saw these videos that was shared to me by my girlfriend who used to work in Hong Kong and told me this video is a reality of how Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW) are treated specially in Hong Kong. I just can't imagine how many fellow Filipinos that went through the same abuse and feel left out because the appointed officials that suppose to help and advocate for our OFW failed to do their job. Romulo Salud raised his voice he still there anyways if he is not doing his job? It is sad how our own appointed officials don't do anything to assist Agnes Tenorio and stick up for her right. A lot of our OFW leave the country and left behind a big financial responsibilities so going back to PI is not really of best interest for Agnes Tenorio. How to Perform a Nasal Irrigation

If you have runny nose, flush it out. I wanted to share how to perform nasal irrigation or nasal clease. It may look weird but it is effective and is recommended by doctors. It is a simple saline solution which am gonna share today.
Benefits:
  • Saline (salt water) washes the mucus and irritants from your nose.
  • The sinus passages are moisturized.
  • Studies have shown  that a nasal irrigation improves cell function (the cells that have fine filaments to move the mucus work better.
You will need:

  • 1 quart glass jar that is thoroughly cleansed.
  • Fill with warm water (not hot) not necessarily to boil the water
  • Add 1 - 1½ heaping teaspoons of salt (pickling/kosher/canning salt) do not use table salt because it contains large amount of additives.
  • Add 1 teaspoon baking soda (pure bicarbonate) Mix ingredients together and store at room temperature.
Discard after 1 week if not used .
Procedure:
It is recommended to irrigate your nose once or twice a day. You can use bulb/ear syringe, large medical syringe (30 cc) , water pick with irrigation tip, squeeze bottle or Neti pot. syringe or pick or anything plastic should be sterilized frequently or replaced at least every 2 weeks to avoid contamination and secondary infection. Always pour the amount of fluid you plan to use into a clean bowl . You may warm up the solution but make sure not too hot. Bend over the sink and squirt the solution or let gravity flow if using a irrigation pot aiming the stream towards the back of your head ,NOT the top of your head. It will not harm you if you swallow a little. If you have been told to use nasal medication, you should always use the saline first. The nasal medication is much more effective when sprayed onto clean nasal membranes. Some people may experience a little burning sensation the first few times they use buffered saline solution, but this usually goes away after they adapt to it .

(This was recommended to me by my Physician and instruction given to me. I would like to share this how effective it was for me as I was suffering from viral infection on my nose for months and this is the only thing that worked for me)

Facts about Antibiotics

antibiotics
Parents usually get panic or get helpless when their child get symptoms like colds ,coughs, ear infection and sore throat. Often times they think and expect antibiotic would solve the problem but antibiotics are not always the answer to cure these symptoms. I post this specially to parents that live in the Philippines where antibiotics are dispensed over-the-counter not even needing prescription. As a child that was raised back in the Philippines I have been a victim of miss treatment of a simple ear infection.  Parents be advised that
  • Antibiotics are not used for bacterial infections.
  • When your child  had cough or cold she probably has viral infection.
  • Common viral infection such as coughs, sore throat or colds cannot be cured by taking antibiotics.
  • Use of antibiotics when not needed can harm  your child.
  • Ask Physician if you think that your child might need antibiotic. (DO NOT SELF-MEDICATE)
  • Hand washing is still the single best way to prevent the spread of illness.

How Make the Most Use of Your Mobile Minutes

Integrating my Skype with mobile minutes and enjoy unlimited world calling. Not many users specially people with AT&T service providers that AT&T offers "A-list" on selected plans. Current Individual plans 900+ minutes ($59.99 and over) per month, and Current FamilyTalk plans 1400+ minutes ($89.99 and over) per month. What it does is allowing you to pick 5 numbers (for individual plan) or 10 numbers (family plan) you can frequently call and enjoy the unlimited calling to that number without using your Mobile to Mobile, or Rollover® minutes. If you are currently in the plan mentioned above just update online and add any domestic number, on any network – including landline numbers to your a-list and enjoy unlimited calling. You can also do the same with "pick five friends" and "my faves" of T-mobile. Then I actually added my Skype mobile to go number to "my faves" or "a-list" so I can dial it like using a phone card. So with my Skype World plan, I can call that Skype mobile number and dial any number from the 36 countries included in my Skype subscription. Now that is how I integrate my mobile minutes and Skype subscription to call World (36 countries).

Chikay's Chudleigh's Apple Farm Getaway

Chudleigh's Apple Picking
Last weekend I (Chikay) went to Chudleigh's Apple Farm to experience apple picking with some friends. Since I am just here in Toronto for about three months, this is really my first experience. My friend invited me to go so I went and I'm really glad I did. It was fun and I even got to go home the delicious Chudleigh's Apple pie on top of the Red Delicious apples I picked.

Importance of GPS Device

I am fond of  practical gadgets and gizmos. Like GPS device , I first used it as an application to a blackberry 5 years ago when I first visited Toronto. I was very impressed how useful it was although it was just an add on to a blackberry , I have to pay for using the apps and the screen was not quite as big as I wanted it. So later on I bought myself a TOMTOM XL, I got the bigger screen and way lot more POI (points of interest) hightlighted. Of course am comparing a 4 years difference in technology. I choose TomTom XL over Garmin for the fact that TomTom actually have Canada map pre-installed and don't have to pay extra for the map. I was not sure if Garmin really allow Canada map to be downloaded for free. My only mistake using GPS is I rely too much on GPS device. It actually redirect my routes when I missed my turn and guided me to find open space parking. I still recommend glancing at the map or at least preview your route before you start driving unless you know a little bit about your current location. I feel so dumb and feels like driving blind-folded not knowing where I actually was although I am very pleased and satisfied with TomTom GPS device and saved my day several times. Read More......
